Cusco is an Andes city,3360 m. above sea level, whose history began, according to the legend, in 11th and 12th century, when the first Inca, Manco Capac, built the city in order to fulfill the order of the God of Sun.

The Spanish city of Cusco, however, was built on March 23,1534 by the conquerer Francisco Pizarro

Its everyday life reflects the integration of different races and cultures. This not only characterises Cusco but also witnesses the coming together of the ancient, classic and the modern time. This city welcomes all visiters, who admire its unusual attractions and learn about its history.

The name Cusco means in Quechua language "Navel of the world".It refers to the greatest archeological and historical strong holds of South America. Many colonial buildings in the style of Barock were built by the conquerers on top of the ground walls of the Inca houses, fortresses, temples and palaces.

In 1985 Cusco was declared site of 'Cultural Heritage of Mankind" by UNESCO.

The center point of the city is the Plaza de Armas, the historical meeting point of 2 important routes of the Inca Kingdom, Inca nan"Sun or Inca route" and Nan Cuna "Route of time".
